Trailer Of The Day! Willy Shakespeare Returns In Coriolanus

Rope Of Silicon has the new trailer for Coriolanus, the directing debut of the always reliable Ralph Fiennes.  The script by John Logan (The Aviator) is an adaptation of the Shakespeare play about a military hero who is ousted from his city (now country) by angry mobs and is forced to ally with an enemy to exact vengeance.  The cast is impressive to say the least, featuring Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Brian Cox, Vanessa Redgrave and rising star Jessica Chastain.  Check it out below.

It's worth noting that the concept of using Shakespeare's dialogue in a modern context has been tried before, most notably in the Ethan Hawke-starring Hamlet, but never to great success.  I'm willing to give Fiennes quite a bit of leeway, and the subject matter seems to be far better suited to this type of adaptation considering current events.  There was quite a bit of industry buzz on this project early on and I'm happy to see it seems to have been justified.  Can't wait to see how it ultimately turns out.

Props to @erchristensen for the link.
