First Image Of Snyder's Superman Reveals Hatred Of Vault Doors

There he is, Henry Cavill in all his red and blue suited glory as the latest incarnation of Superman.  Obviously this is a pretty dark image but it appears that the new suit is definitely working with a darker palette, even darker than Bryan Singer's version.  That's hardly surprising, as "dark and edgy" seem to be the watchwords over at Warner Brothers when it comes to their DC properties these days.  I'm not sure how I feel about the new top-heavy design of the S-sheild, as it feels somewhat playful and would seem at odds with the rest of the suit.

Much like the new Spider-Man suit, a still image like this is prone to nit-picking each and every unexpected change.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how Cavill looks in motion, preferably flying through the bright skies of Metropolis as opposed to a dimly lit bank basement.  But I have to admit, that's a pretty stunning first image.  Click on the picture above for a higher-res download courtesy of the fine folks at JoBlo.

For the record, this was the first released image of Brandon Routh in Superman Returns, just for comparison's sake.
